The Struggle To Receive An Education in the Haitian Countryside

We travelled to Haiti to document the visit of two professional educators from South Florida, Viola Irons and Yvonne Brown, as they took a firsthand look at the challenges facing one small school in the Haitian countryside.

The Maniche School is located in the mountains of the southern peninsula of Haiti, approximately six hours from Port-au-Prince. The majority of the people live off the land and life is difficult with many challenges. Unfortunately, in many cases the children are unable to attend school for a variety of reasons.

The Maniche School has a Hope for Kidz program that has provided many of the children the opportunity to attend school. The program also provides each child at the school a hot meal every school day.
